Your video supporting telemedicine was extremely interesting and I would love to explain some reasons why I would not support telemedicine. I feel like telemedicine takes away a bit from the provider to patient relationship. For me, there’s something about making the time to go to a doctors office and being face to face with my provider that creates a sense of trust and allows me to form a relationship with them that otherwise may not happen online.

I also oppose this viewpoint because of an article written by Cascella which states, “Compared with face-to-face encounters, telemedicine encounters are more vulnerable to privacy and security risks. Most telehealth platforms are highly encrypted and in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act standards and regulations, but no platform is 100% safe from hackers or data breaches.” This can be extremely concerning because the distribution of private information is at an all time high if everything becomes online-based.

Thank you for sharing your perspective on telemedicine. While it’s understandable to prefer face-to-face interactions with healthcare providers, there are several issues to telemedicine that cannot be ignored. One of the major concernis the lack of physical interaction between the doctor and patient(Haleem, 2021). When patients are in the same room with their doctor, they are able to express themselves better, and it can be easier for the doctor to assess their condition. Additionally, there are concerns about the privacy and security of telemedicine. While telemedicine platforms are highly encrypted, there is still a risk of data breaches and hackers that can put the patient’s private information at risk. For these reasons, I believe that telemedicine should not be the primary mode of healthcare delivery.
