Analyzing Your Assessment Profile

Submit the assignment by 11:59 PM PT Sunday of Module 1.

In Module 1, we learned about the developmental needs of children in early childhood special education settings and how these needs should be considered when it comes to assessment.

In the analysis assignment, you will take a survey to determine your own readiness and comfort level in assessing young children. While you may not currently work in a program for young children, you may complete the profile based on your experience with older children, or you may select a program in your area, interview a teacher who works in the program, and analyze the results as they pertain to the individual and program you selected.

  • Create a Word document for your response
  • Use APA format for the paper, title page, references page, and in-text citations.
  • Develop an introduction and conclusion for the paper.

Step 1. Assess and Score
Access and print out the Ongoing Child Assessment System ProfileLinks to an external site. https://eclkc.ohs.acf.hhs.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/ongoing-child-assessment-system-profile-cb-questionnaire.pdf from the Office of Head Start Training and Technical Assistance website.

Using the directions provided in the document, score the assessment, and analyze your results.

Step 2. Analyze and Reflect
Respond to each of the prompts in 1 or 2 well-developed paragraphs.

  1. Describe and compare your results for each of the four subsections.
  2. According to the profile, which is your strength? Do you agree with this result? Why or why not?
  3. Which area of the profile do you consider a priority for improvement?
  4. What are ways you can address the needs you are aware of after completing the profile?
