Books and articles written by Joseph Stiglitz on globalization and its socioeconomic effects has influenced many decision-makers all over the world, especially his liberal/progressive assertions concerning the ways to promote/improve equality and social justice. Reading such literature can enrich our knowledge and better understand the scope and social impact of globalization and economic development.
The Guidelines:
This assignment requires you to write a short piece about how you see the impact of globalization after reading the articles and books by Stiglitz, such as Globalization and Its New Discontents and watching the Joseph Stiglitz video on the Moodle. By comparing the theories of globalization and what you know about China’s economic development in the last 30 years, you will gain a better understanding about the real effect of globalization in different countries over the last 30 years.
The Specific Notes:
1. Summarize your takeaways after reading the material in clear English within 800 words.
2. Focus your comments on one or two of the key issues in globalization.
3. Be original. Write what you know and how you think of the issues.
4. Read your piece aloud before you print it and submit it via Moodle.
5. Follow the template.
6. Use font 14 and set double space to leave room for marking.
7. Submit a digital copy via the Moodle on Feb. 2 and hand in a print
copy on the same day in class.
8. Late submission will negatively affect the grade.
