This assignment presents an opportunity to hone your skills in empirical research and interviewing while applying your knowledge of employment law and policy. Your task will involve conducting an interview with someone you know about their work history, including the contracts they have held, their relationships with employers, and their experiences transitioning in and out of work during various life stages. After conducting the interview, you will write A NARRATIVE (maximum 4 pages, double-spaced) and ANALYSIS (minimum 7 pages, double-spaced) of your interviewee’s work history, for a total of approximately 11-14 double-spaced pages. In your analysis, focus on the role that legal regulations have played in shaping your interviewee’s work experiences. Consider the various types of legal norms and regimes (common law, statutory law, etc.) that regulate work relations in Canada and specifically in Ontario. Additionally, reflect on particular circumstances, regulatory gaps, and other issues that could impact how someone navigates and experiences the world of work during different life stages or because of their social location.
