Problem statement: The nursing profession continues to face shortages due to a lack of potential educators, high turnover, and inequitable workforce distribution. The causes related to the nursing shortage are numerous and is a topic of concern. Nursing shortage is a critical problem due it leads to errors, higher morbidity, and mortality rates.

One of the most important learning takeaways from the literature reviewed was that several factors are contributing to the nursing shortage. For example, as the population ages, the need for health care services increases. Older persons have often several diagnoses and comorbidities that require them to seek treatment and remain hospitalized. In addition, many disease processes that were once terminal are now treatable. Furthermore, treating these long-term illnesses strain the workforce. On the other hand, nurse burnout has a deep impact on nursing shortage. While some nurses graduate and start working and then determine the profession is not what they thought it would be. Others may work some time and experience burnout, leaving the profession. (Haddad et al., 2023).

Problem Statement:

Recently, laws have drastically changed throughout our country regarding abortions. Just a few days ago Florida restricted abortions to a gestational age of 6 weeks or less after originally stating they would keep it at 15 weeks. Literature states that tightened abortion laws such at these or complete bans on abortions result in an increase in unsafe abortions which can put a woman’s life at risk. Seeking unregulated care increases changes of infection, injury, and future sterilization of the patient (Stevenson, 2022).

Literature Review Takeaways:

After using out resource page and reading more about literature reviews I feel like I have more of a grasp on how to organize my research. There was a part of the slide show that shows the three steps to organizing yourself and they include: Selecting a Topic and Scope of Topic, Gathering Sources, Summarizing. If you follow these steps when organizing yourself it makes the process was more seamless. Previously, I was researching all over the place with out tightening the scope of what I really wanted to research which led me to a lot of unnecessary reading. In addition to that, constructing a literature review was also broken down to three parts in order to simplify the process. When writing a literature review you will need a introduction, body and conclusion. These things may seem simple but when you have so much content to organize it is good to have a simple process to getting your research in order.
