Instructions: SPENT was launched in February 2011 as a collaboration between McKinney and Urban Ministries of Durham. “Spent” is an online simulation about surviving poverty and homelessness. This simulation asks you to make the difficult decisions necessary to live for one month on $1,000, often having to choose between equally disagreeable options. This activity is designed to instill empathy and encourage us all to remember that many are just one paycheck away from homelessness.
