Interesting to read this article from October 2022 about the political pressure on Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell to “slow down” the rate increases to keep this from putting the economy into a recession. Given the Fed’s singular focus on getting inflation back down to 2% annually, is it actually positive for someone to speak on behalf of not sacrificing the economy (and potentially millions of jobs) in order to hit that 2% inflation rate?

Now take a look at this article from back in June 2021, just prior to the aggressive rate increases, where Powell had a view that Inflation was “transitory” based on COVID and didn’t necessarily require rate increases in order to slow the economy and cool inflation. What the article presented is clearly not what happened; why? Was Powell too cautious?
