Imagine you are working in the counseling center at a community college and that you have just been informed that three students have been shot on campus and taken to the hospital. It does not appear that there are any other casualties, and the campus is on lockdown. The gunman has been identified and captured, although his motive for the shooting is still undetermined. 

In your initial post, discuss the following:

  1. Steps to be taken to ensure the safety of everyone on campus
  2. Methods for informing students, faculty, staff, and parents of the crisis.
  3. Interventions that should occur in the hours/weeks after the event.

Also, in your response discuss how you would deal with your own feelings in response to the shooting. Who would you talk to? What would you say? How would you get support for yourself?

Your initial posting should be 250-500 words and must be submitted by Thursday, 11:59 (MT), of this week. By Sunday at 11:59 (MT), respond to two or more of your classmates’ initial posts in one of the following ways:

  • Build on something interesting or provocative that your classmate wrote.
  • Explain why and how you see things differently.
