INSTRUCTIONS

For this observation, you will be observing one toddler 24-36 months old. In this observation, you will be looking at the child’s cognitive, language, and motor development.

  1. Take your observation using the video below or a toddler that is 24-36 months of age.
  2. Write a one-page paper answering the following questions:
    1. How does the child express their needs? If they are not verbal, what kinds of signals do
      they give their caregiver? How does their caregiver respond to the children’s requests?
    2. What temperament do you think the child has? Why? What behaviors tell you that?
    3. How does the child communicate with their peers? What specific behaviors tell you that
      they are communicating?
    4. If there is conflict between the children, how do the caregivers support their social
      emotional development?
    5. What specifically do the caregivers do to support children’s social- emotional
      development?
