HINT Plato in the Apology represents Socrates reporting a quest to find anyone wiser than he, questioning three kinds of Athenians, [1] public men, [2] poets, [3] craftsmen.
[1] reread Thucydides & ask how Socrates woduld critique Pericles’ funeral oration with its puff for democracy as opposed to oligarchy (Athens contrasted with Sparta);
[2] Sophocles representing the conflicting ideals of Antigone & Creon, how would that be seen by Socrates who claims to be guided by an inner ‘demon’;
[3] reread in Thucydides the Athenian claim that the strong rule (stated in debate at Corinth & again in dialogue with Melos). .
You should illustrate your argument with brief but apt quotations from the texts. Length, four to five pages, double spaced, 12 point Times Roman font
