After reading “The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen, what do you think is the moral or lesson to be learned

You must answer all of the following questions:
1. After reading “The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen, what do you think is the moral or lesson to be learned from the story? Explain your answer.
2. Edgar Allan Poe helped to establish early gothic horror in American fiction. Dinah Birch describes gothic fiction as “characterized by an environment of fear, the threat of supernatural events, and the intrusion of the past upon the present. Gothic fiction is distinguished from other forms of scary or supernatural stories, such as fairy tales, by the specific theme of the present being haunted by the past.” With this description in mind, analyze how Poe’s “The Black Cat” is a gothic fiction short story.
3. Last week you read two different Little Red Riding Hood stories. This week you read “Little Red Cap” by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm which was published much later. Explain how this story seems to be influenced by those stories from the past.
4. The ending of “Little Red Cap” is much different than the other Little Red Riding Hood stories you have read this semester. Out of the three stories that you read, which ending did you like the most? Which do you think has the biggest impact on the reader? Explain your answer.
5. What moral or lesson can be learned from Oscar Wilde’s “The Nightingale and the Rose?” Explain your answer.
