In this discussion forum, you will consider professional values and behaviors that are necessary to utilize when working with members of an interprofessional team on an evidence-based project.

- A response to the initial questions. The discussion should be a minimum of 250 words in length.
Step 1 Read the case scenario.
A group of professionals from different health care disciplines are convened as a task force to look at best practices for preventing medication errors in the hospital. As part of this evidence-based project, members of the interprofessional task force are expected to work together to come up with recommendations for changing the way medication administration occurs on the units. Historically, the members of the different disciplines have not always collaborated well due to preconceived ideas and stereotypes that one discipline has for another. However, it has been made clear that they must work together to get this project completed.
As the group meets, they find that there are many differing opinions on the best way to go about the project; some are in favor of implementing one intervention, while others have a different idea for interventions. Many members of the group recognize that they need to begin to work together to get the work done. This will require the use of professional values and behaviors.
Step 2 Post a response to the discussion board.
In your response, address the following questions:
- In this scenario, which professional values are important for the members of the interprofessional team to possess?
- Why is it important to behave in a professional manner when working with other members of the interprofessional team on an evidence-based project such as the one in the case? Provide examples of behaviors that would be inappropriate for the group member in this case.
- Evaluate your own personal values and behaviors. Which values are most important to you? Choose at least three and provide examples of how these values translate into professional behaviors for you in your nursing practice.
- Every discussion in this course requires documentation to support the statements you make. The level of evidence you use to support your statements is important and must be evident in each part of the discussion. Your textbook and the article you are asked to locate/read should always be used as evidence. The next level of evidence would be peer reviewed articles, and after that, well known web sites for example: CDC or the AHA. Avoid the use of blogs or obscure or non-healthcare related web sites, and Wikipedia.
