· Central line associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI)
· Patient handovers
· Surgical site infections including colorectal and/or hysterectomy
· Sepsis
· Delirium
· Venous thromboembolism (VTE)

  • Working with your nurse manager, charge nurse, practice council chair or Chief Nursing Officer, perform a needs assessment of an area of practice that currently requires Quality Improvement. Determine the refined topic for your Quality Improvement Project with the input of individuals above.

Step 2 Discuss the needs of those involved

Identify the populations affected by this topic; patients staff, leadership and how the information will best be delivered to those involved.

  • What are the issues that create this need?
  • How will you deliver the information to the people who need it?
