Do some research and find the tasks/processes that are associated with making and executing strategy

Do some research and find the tasks/processes that are associated with making and executing strategy. This discussion is straightforward: select any ONE of the tasks/processes that you want to investigate, and share your findings about that task. Include where it fits in the process, how it helps the process and finally, what you would do to make it better.

Afternoon class, this week I figured I would like to focus on the concept – Prioritizing Your Objectives. Personally, I believe this to be one of the most important steps in the strategic planning & execution process. Without an understanding of which initiatives will have a large impact on the outcome of achieving the mission or vision, the planning & execution process could not be effective. The concept is quite simple & according to the Lucid Content Team, “Objectives should be distinct and measurable to help you reach your long-term strategic goals and initiatives outlined beforehand – determining a strategic position” (2019). When prioritizing, a leader must understand what initiatives are important, what’s needed to achieve the set goals, how will competition react / how the organization will intend to respond, and just as importantly, how does the organization plan to measure their progress & review.

Prioritizing your objectives is early on in the planning process through creating a strategic plan. Without this, executing and measuring loses value. By completing this step, this helps to execute the overall plan. With an understanding of the most important initiatives, leaders can make noteworthy decisions that will more than likely lead to positive outcomes because they have already weighed the cost and benefits of each objective. If I were to make this process better, I think more time could be focused on overall growth and future opportunity. This fits in more-so along the measuring perspective of the plan, but an important reason for developing an initial strategic plan is to have an understanding for opportunities to grow. I believe if this has been included or considered, it’s likely that company would fall underneath the “leader” column, as they’re looking to drive the industry & create paths for innovation & progression.

Thank you all for taking some time to read my initial post. I look forward to reviewing your responses shortly!

Take care,

Joshua Dyring
