Recently, many famous and rich people have been convicted of bribing college admission officials
Recently, many famous and rich people have been convicted of bribing college admission officials in order to get their sons or daughters admitted into these high profiles and very competitive colleges. This is an example of a “white collar” crime. In these cases, no person was harmed physically, and the defendants are non-violent people and have no criminal cases.
Do you believe these people should get prison time, which would cost us, taxpayers, more than $50,000 a year to confine each defendant, or do you believe a more appropriate punishment is to hurt these rich defendants in their pocketbook by imposing severe and large financial punishment? Please explain your answer.
