It is important that when we take on a teaching or care giving job, we become aware of the community in which we serve. As a teacher you will not just be caring for children, but you will be a guiding light for some parents. Sometimes in our jobs we have families in need and our knowledge of how to help them could be a life changing need for someone. This discussion board is to get you aware of the resources in our community, county, state, country. You will research one community resource that can be impactful for a child, family, school, or community. See the attached guideline for specific information needed. You will submit your information to this discussion board ASAP so that you and your classmates can use them to fulfill the portfolio requirements (found on the next page in this module). Use the guideline below to help guide you through the assignment expectations.

To be successful on this discussion board:
- Research a community resource and complete the information on the provided guideline
- Submit your resource information to this discussion board no later than May 7 for full credit
- Review your classmates’ posts to gather other resources to use in your community portfolio assignment
**Note this discussion board is part of the weekly attendance and participation but it is not required to post or make comments to classmates on certain days of the week. You only have to post your community resource you researched by Sunday of the week to receive full credit. Full credit on this discussion board is 20 points and will be part of your resource assignment grade. ***If you submit after May 7, you will be deducted 10 points as your classmates are relying on your resource so they can build and add it to their portfolio. So, this discussion board will be open until May 21, but you can only receive 10 points if submitted later than May 7.
