Identify the grade level and content area of the class in which the instructional activity would be used (e.g., elementary language

You will choose a topic (e.g., graphing equations, identifying adjectives, identifying parts of a cell) for the grade level and content area that you expect to teach (7/8TH GRADE ELA ELA INCLUSION) You will then plan to implement one strategy for motivation and one strategy for engagement for an activity about the selected topic. You may use your own research and learning resources provided in the course to justify the strategies you include in your plan.

Activity Summary

A. Describe an instructional activity that is intended for your selected grade level and content area by doing the following:

1. Identify the grade level and content area of the class in which the instructional activity would be used (e.g., elementary language arts, special education elementary math, middle or secondary science, middle or secondary math, or secondary English).

2. Identify the goal of the instructional activity that specifies what the students will learn.

Note: Examples of a goal for the activity could include the following: “Students will be able to differentiate between physical and chemical reactions,” “Students will be able to add fractions,” or “Students will be able to identify imagery in a poem.”

3. Describe what students will be doing during the instructional activity. (E.g., Will they be working alone or in groups? What specific tasks will the students complete? How will students interact with each other?)

Motivation and Engagement Strategies

B. Describe a strategy for motivating all students to learn during the activity described in part A3.

Note: Examples of strategies include—but are not limited to— the display of student work, technological tools, collaborative learning, authentic learning experiences, games, role play, learning centers, student choice, and incentives.

1. Explain how the strategy from part B will motivate students to learn the content of the activity identified in part A3, using support from a credible professional source.

Note: Credible professional sources can include a book, journal article, video, website for a professional organization, or another academic or professionally accepted source.

C. Describe a strategy for engaging all students in the activity described in part A3.

1. Explain how the strategy from part C will engage students in the activity identified in part A3, using support from a credible professional source.

2. Provide two examples of how you will check for student engagement after implementing the strategy from part C.

D. Acknowledge sources, using in-text citations and references, for content that is quoted, paraphrased, or summarized.
